Komatsu’s compact 13 tonner a hit in Finland

We first caught site of the new Komatsu PC138US-11 at last year’s Bauma trade fair. The ultra-short radius machine which actually tips the scales at around 15 tonnes is the replacement model for the outgoing Dash 10 variant. At first glance the machine does not appear to be much different than the old model, but like most machines in recent years, the main difference is under the skin. Pictured above: Komatsu's PC138US-11 on static display at Plantworx in the UK last month.  The machine now features Komatsu’s SAA4D95LE-7  Tier 4 emissions compliant four cylinder engine, which offers a power output rating of 72.6 kW / 97.3 HP @ 2.050 rpm which uses SCR technology and AdBlue to meet the emissions requirements.  More cameras have been fitted to this machine in keeping with most other manufacturers these days, but the cab interior remains much the same as it was in the previous model. I must admit I do like operating these machines and they have always impressed me with their smoothness of operation and the power and performance from such a compact machine, it’s really a perfect machine for the housing site sector in my humble opinion. Check out Olli Paivio's excellent video of the machine in action.
