Murphy adds 19 Kubota excavators to fleet

Murphy has added 19 Kubota KX085-5 compact excavators to its plant fleet, with the machines supplied by Shellplant, a partner of more than 30 years.

Murphy Plant manages the company’s plant, transport and equipment requirements, with more than 23,000 assets ranging from small tools to specialist piling rigs. Its equipment supports infrastructure, construction and utility projects across the UK.

Phillip Collier, Asset Manager at Murphy, said: “Kubota machines form an important part of our plant and compact excavator fleet, with a significant number deployed across multiple projects to support excavation and general site works.

“Model selection is driven by operational requirements, including ease of transport, versatility on constrained sites, operator familiarity and lifting performance. Reliability and consistency across the range are also key factors in our specification.

“The KX085-5 machines are used across a variety of projects for medium-scale excavation, offering a balance between compact footprint and increased digging capability. This model is proving popular due to its versatility and performance, making it well suited to a wide range of site conditions and we are seeing increased demand for machines in this class across our operations.”

Murphy reviews its fleet to ensure it meets operational requirements, efficiency targets and sustainability objectives. The company also works with established suppliers to maintain parts availability, servicing and aftersales support across its operations.

“We have developed a long-standing relationship with Shellplant over many years, built on consistent service, product knowledge and strong support,” said Collier. “This partnership has played an important role in supporting the ongoing development of our fleet. As Murphy marks over 75 years in operation, maintaining strong, trusted supplier relationships remains a key part of our approach.”

Julian Payne, Partner at Shellplant, said: “It has been a privilege to be a supplier to Murphy for the last 28 years and to watch their continued growth.

“We have served Murphy under the leadership of John Murphy, the founder and now his grandson, CEO John Murphy. In their 75th year, it’s an incredible company and story. We look forward to continuing to provide the company with consistent, strong product supply and support.”
