New 50-tonne Doosan excavators

Doosan has launched its most productive 50-tonne class excavators yet in the form of new, Stage 5 emissions-compliant DX490LC-7 and DX530LC-7 machines. To meet Stage 5 engine emission regulations, the DX490LC-7 and DX530LC-7 excavators are powered by the new Scania DC13 diesel engine, providing a higher power output of 394hp.

Doosan’s new DX490LC-7 excavator has an operating weight of 49.8 tonnes, a 3m3 bucket capacity, a digging depth of 7.8m, a digging reach of 12.1m and a digging height of 11m. The digging force over the bucket is 30.8 tonnes (ISO) and the digging force over the arm is 22.7 tonnes (ISO). Meanwhile, the Doosan DX530LC-7 excavator has an operating weight of 53 tonnes, a 3.3m3 bucket capacity, a digging depth of 6.8m, a digging reach of 10.7m and a digging height of 9.6m. The digging force over the bucket equals that of the 490 model, but the digging force over the arm is 25.8 tonnes.

The Scania engine boasts DOC/DPF+SCR after-treatment technology to ensure minimal emissions. Maintenance of the diesel particulate filter (DPF) has been greatly reduced, with a six times longer automatic regeneration interval (60 hours) and an ash cleaning interval that is twice as long at 8,000 hours, compared with the previous DPF in the DX-3 generation machines. In the DX490LC-7 and DX530LC-7, the DC13 engine is combined with a Virtual Bleed Off (VBO) hydraulic system (D-Ecopower+) and the new generation Smart Power Control Technology (SPC3), providing an overall fuel efficiency increase of 11%.

Increased pump capacity and the higher power of the engine produces up to an 8% increase in productivity. There are now four power modes available on both machines, which help to simplify the operation of the new excavators compared to the more complex choice of eight power modes and SPC combinations in the previous generation machines. The operator is able to set the power mode (P+, P, S or E) in both one-way and two-way working modes.

Key new features of the spacious cabs include a new 8-inch touchscreen LCD gauge panel, improved air conditioning/defrost performance, two-step seat heating and 360-degree cameras. Ultrasonic sonic detection of obstacles, LED lights, side protection or catwalk, and an air compressor are optional. Both machines also receive DoosanCONNECT wireless fleet monitoring as standard.
