New Hyundai material handler
Hyundai Construction Equipment is introducing the 28-tonne HW270A MH materials handler to the European market, offering a dedicated machine for medium to heavy-duty handling applications.
Designed specifically for materials handling, the HW270A MH features a hydraulically elevating cab, a stable undercarriage with front and rear outriggers, and a choice of straight or gooseneck arms. Maximum working reach is 12.41m, with a maximum bucket pin height of 5.4m.
Power and performance
The machine is powered by a six-cylinder Stage V diesel engine producing 141kW (189hp). A variable-pressure turbocharger optimises airflow to balance engine response and fuel economy, while a standard reversible cooling fan helps maintain cooling performance in dusty working conditions. An electronically controlled twin-pump hydraulic system works alongside the engine management system to balance performance and efficiency. A one-touch Power Boost function provides additional power for demanding lifting and digging operations. The upper structure uses an axial piston motor and two-stage planetary reduction gear swing drive to deliver high torque and faster slew times. The undercarriage is driven by an axial piston motor through a two-speed powershift transmission, with travel speeds of 4km/h in creep mode, 9km/h in low range and 19km/h in high range. Operators can select creep speed when precise manoeuvring is required.
Operator environment and safety
The HW270A MH's hydraulically elevating cab can be raised by up to 2.6m, providing a clearer view into trucks, loading hoppers and the surrounding working area. An Emergency Cab Descent system allows the cab to be lowered safely in the event of engine failure. The ROPS/FOPS cab is equipped with air conditioning, a reclining seat with lumbar support and heating options. A rear-view camera and 360-degree AAVM all-round visibility system provide additional visibility, while a virtual wall function helps prevent collisions with nearby obstructions. An Overload Warning System is also fitted as standard. The seat and controls offer independent height adjustment, while a 7-inch colour monitor and toggle switch allow operators to configure machine settings for different applications. Selectable power modes balance performance and fuel economy, and standard joystick steering helps reduce operator effort and fatigue.
Built for materials handling
The HW270A MH is designed for applications including waste processing, scrap metal handling and port operations. Its parallel-lift cab provides an elevated operating position, while the choice of boom configurations and compatibility with attachments such as orange peel grapples and clamshell buckets allow the machine to be configured for different duties. Access to service points from the top, sides and underside of the upper structure is intended to simplify maintenance and reduce downtime. Hyundai's Hi-MATE telematics system is also fitted as standard, providing remote monitoring of machine operating data and diagnostic information to support maintenance planning and dealer servicing. “The HW270A MH has been specifically built for materials handling operations, delivering increased operator awareness, protection from overloads and collisions, and precise control from a commanding driving position,” said Natalia Barbieri, EU Product Manager. He continued: “With a driveline that has been engineered for performance, the HW270A MH provides a new level of productivity for a wide range of handling applications.”
