New Volvo ECR50

Volvo has introduced its new 31.2kW ECR50 F generation compact excavator. The 5-tonne machine features a zero-tail swing radius, an in-track boom swing, a reinforced 0.11-cubic-metre bucket, and a 50-hour greasing interval.

In the cab, there’s an automotive-style jog wheel and 5-inch colour display for navigating the menus. Volvo says the proportional fingertip controls, large travel pedals and automatic two-speed travel make it easy for the operator to get to grips with the machine.

Further boosting the new ECR50’s ease of use is its hydraulic quick coupler for fast attachment changes, complemented by step-by-step on-screen instructions. In the new ECR50, the auxiliary hydraulics settings can be pre-programmed to suit the job in just a few steps. Operators can then be allowed to select the pre-defined settings only or make final hydraulic adjustments from the cab.

With a 1400 arm, the machine’s digging depth is 3.37m, this figure rising to 3.77m with an 1800 arm. Similarly, the ECR50’s maximum digging reach is 5.9m in 1400 form, or 6.3m with a 1800 arm.
