Out and About with Our Cornishman in Canada

As we said in the first instalment of this series last week, Jack Prynn has left the family home in Padstow, Cornwall to take up a job as a mechanic for Great Western Equipment in British Columbia. Jack reports that the areas he is working in are fantastic for anyone that has an interest in plant, either classic or modern era kit. I think from this shot of Jack’s work vehicle, the stunning scenery is pretty good too!

Jack shares another photo of the classic old Caterpillar D9H that we posted about last week, this venerable machine still puts in a good shift, a real credit to the durability of the old Cat equipment. In this shot we have old alongside new, with the ageing but still very tidy and well looked after, Terex 3066 articulated hauler, parked up next to a much younger Volvo A30G model and once again a stunning backdrop for scenery. As I understand it, Jack was in this location to fit a replacement engine in a John Deere 450LC hydraulic excavator. This machine looks to have had a hard life judging by the counterweight, scuffed down to the bare metal! Another 45 tonne John Deere excavator, this time a 450D LC model was at rest elsewhere at this location in the Yukon. And finally in this batch from Jack, we have another old and new machine shot, which seems to be a theme at this location. The very tidy Caterpillar looks likely to be a 980C model. The classic shovel is sitting proudly next to a more modern John Deere 644K model. The Digger Man Blog thanks Jack for sharing these photos and we look forward to receiving more from your assignments in the region.
