Postcards from FinnMetko 2020 (Part Two)

Another standout exhibit was found on the Finnish Hyundai dealer Telakone’s stand. Looking resplendent in stunning black livery, they displayed this HX140HWC (High Walker) forestry spec 14-tonne class. tracked hydraulic excavator.

Also displayed was the HW140 wheeled excavator, which was fitted with an Engcon tiltrotator, but surprisingly for a Nordic region machine only featured a standard mono boom, instead of the favoured TAB arrangement. There was however some Nordic “pimping” of the machine with a chrome LED light bar on the roof of the cab.

Honka Trading are the Finnish dealers for Takeuchi and Hidromek excavators and one of the star attractions on their stand was the all-new 7-tonne class TB370 midi excavator, looking nicely colour co-ordinated with a Rototilt tilrotator. The first model of the new 3-Series generation of Takeuchi machines. You can read more about this machine in my report in the current issue of Earthmovers Magazine (October 2020) Issue 198.

I’ve often described Wacker Neuson as a sleeping giant of construction machinery manufacturers, they produce some great products and a wide variety of different and innovative kit too. In Finland the brand is represented by EDECO Fi and at FinnMetko they presented a number of machines including this EZ80 midi excavator. The EZ80 is the largest zero tailswing model in the Wacker Neuson range and is powered by a 4-cylinder 42kw Perkins turbo diesel engine which is Stage V emissions compliant.

A taste of British now as we visit the Mateko JCB stand where they presented a number of different models including the first model of the X-Series machines the 22-tonne 220XLC which has been very well received by customers around the world. This example was displayed with a Rototilt tiltrotator.

It was not all diggers of course. The Prinoth Panther T14R rotating tracked dumper was gaining a lot of interest. This machine is powered by a 6-cylinder Caterpillar C7.1 Acert turbo diesel engine, which offers a power output rating of 205kw (275hp) and has a payload capacity of 13,200kgs (29,100lbs)

Another uniquely Finnish product is the Wille multi-functional loaders, they have been in production since 1980 and today the machines are produced at the parent company Vilakone Oy’s 15,000 square metre production facilities in Loimaa, just a stone’s throw away from Lannen’s factory.

This example is the popular 375 model and these are seen all over the place in Finland during the winter months gritting the roads and after the winter cleaning up the grit that is left over. But of course, the things you can do with these machines is limitless, as they can carry a wide range of work tools to perform many different tasks, a real Finnish icon!

The Digger Man Blog would like to extend our thanks to our Finnish follower for sharing their photos from the show, enabling us to bring a flavour of the event to the blog.
