QMS B4 cone crusher saves Perry a fortune

Quarry Manufacturing & Supplies' (QMS) latest solution is the new B-Series modular cone crusher range. One such plant has been installed at Perry Quarry Product’s site in County Down, Northern Ireland where, as well as delivering accurate and productive aggregate production, its features are estimated to be saving the company £78,000 per annum.

Operating from a purpose-built facility located in the heart of England, as well as other UK locations, QMS has established a robust and efficient network for supporting customers across the globe. One of QMS’s latest upgrades has been the development of its B4 modular cone crusher, which has already made contributions to aggregate plant productivity and cost effectiveness.

“We understand the complexity of aggregate processing and the operational challenges our customers face on a daily basis. So we’ve spent years developing our range of processing equipment and machinery, purpose-built for the quarrying, mining, recycling and demolition industries,” explained QMS managing director Jonathan Beck. “All our products are manufactured in-house and are fully warranted by QMS, being made and inspected in accordance with ISO 9001:2015 standard [TUV register].

“One of our latest developments has been to our B4 cone crusher,” Jonathan continued. “This is now available in a modular form which is benefiting companies across the globe. Furthermore, all QMS cone crushers are competitively priced and include lubrication and hydraulic systems, control system with touchscreen HMI, drive and guards and support frame within the purchase price. Drive motor and mains electrical starter panels are offered as optional extras.”

The QMS B-Series cone crushers feature a unique hydraulic system which provides automatic overload protection by allowing the head assembly to drop, permitting the passage of tramp iron and other non-crushable material. The system then automatically returns the head assembly to its original position. The unique design of the hydraulic system means the crusher operates at a definite setting with less setting drift and greater stability throughout the circuit. The crusher setting is instantaneously maintained even after passing a piece of tramp iron.

Big savings
QMS recently completed the delivery and commissioning of a B4 modular cone crusher at Perry Quarry Product’s County Down quarry in Northern Ireland. Here the combination of the advanced B4 cone crusher, together with electric power supply, has seen the successful marriage of productivity and accuracy with large operational savings.

“The installation of the B4 modular cone crusher in County Down replaced a tracked Metso LT200 cone crusher. Our solution has an electric drive, powered by a diesel generator,” explained Jonathan. “We believe that the installation has been highly successful as (company owner) John Perry informs us that it is saving Perry Quarry Products £300 a day in diesel; on a five day week, this is a huge saving of £78,000 a year.”
