Ridgeway Rentals purchase new JCB compacts
Ridgway Rentals has taken delivery of three of the first JCB VM118D soil compactors to come off the production line, adding to an already substantial JCB fleet.
The Oswestry-based plant hirer has invested in the new compactors as part of a wider deal with dealer Gunn JCB that also includes JCB 220X tracked excavators and articulated booms. The latest machines take Ridgway’s JCB fleet to more than 400.
The new equipment has gone straight into the company’s hire fleet, serving customers across quarrying, waste and recycling, major infrastructure, housebuilding, events and agriculture.
Ridgway Rentals Director Robert Jones said: “We have a long history with JCB. We trust them and their service is very good. They manufacture powerful machines which meet the tough demands of the sectors we work in.
“The new JCB VM118D has an excellent spec. Its impressive compaction rate, alongside the cab with air conditioning and radio, ticks all the boxes for us, ensuring we can deliver what our customers need. Our JCB compaction rollers are always very popular and in high demand, which has driven this further investment.”
Ridgway Rentals has a relationship with JCB stretching back 65 years, alongside longstanding partnerships with JCB Finance and Gunn JCB. These relationships have supported the company in financing and maintaining a large proportion of its fleet.
Ridgway Rentals Chairman Tim Jones said: “With JCB you get the full package. We find JCB Finance to be a strong companion in our investments in JCB equipment. They’re very proactive and, by thinking outside of the box, they have made many deals work for us which may otherwise not have been possible.
“The service is a key reason we continue to buy JCB machines. Gunn JCB listens to us and always finds a solution.”
The VM118D is a single-drum soil compactor powered by JCB’s 55kW 430 diesel engine. The EU Stage V-compliant engine requires no DEF, making the machine the first and only EU Stage V soil compactor over 10 tonnes that does not require DEF, according to JCB.
The arrangement removes the cost and complexity associated with DEF while simplifying operation and maintenance.
Established in 1977, Ridgway Rentals is a family-run plant hire business based at its purpose-built headquarters in Shropshire and operates across the UK. Its fleet of more than 400 JCB machines includes excavators, Loadall telescopic handlers, rollers, dumpers and access equipment.
