Scottish plant hirer buys 200th JCB excavator

A Scottish plant hirer is celebrating the delivery of its 200th JCB excavator. Hamilton-based Fraser Tool Hire has bought the milestone machine – a JCB 86C-2 midi-excavator model, which joins more than 150 existing JCB excavators in the company’s fleet. With compact models ranging from micro-excavators to 10-tonne midi-excavators, Fraser Tool Hire has invested over £8 million in JCB excavators alone since it was founded in 1983, all supplied by dealer Scot JCB.

JCB’s 8- to 10-tonne midi-excavator models have been updated to meet the forthcoming EU Stage 5 emissions regulations. The Dash-2 machines, such as Fraser Tool Hire’s new 86C-2 model, benefit from a host of improvements making them easier to maintain and to operate.

Key features of the machine include a Stage 5 compliant JCB By Kohler diesel engine, new electro proportional control joysticks, programmable high and low flow hydraulics and improved front windscreen visibility. Power outputs are unchanged and engine auto-stop and a one-touch idle feature have been incorporated as standard, to reduce fuel consumption and cut emissions.

Established in 1983 by Colin and his father, Ronald Fraser, Fraser Tool Hire is a tool and plant specialist operating across Scotland from its 2-acre site based in Hamilton. Meeting the needs of all kinds of organisations from national construction companies to local Council works, skilled tradesmen to individual homeowners, Fraser Tool Hire boasts over 600 pieces of plant machinery – the vast majority of which are JCB.
