Taking a look at the Cat D6T

If you ask most operators old and young what would be their preferred mid-range dozer of choice and I predict that the majority would come back at you with the same answer, a Caterpillar D6. In all fairness it’s not hard to see why. The machine has been around in its various guises since it was first launched in 1935 as the RD6, in those days it was powered by a relatively small 3 cylinder D6600 engine offering a power output of around 45hp. The machine has evolved into its latest Tier 4 Final emissions compliant variant the D6T which takes its power from a Cat C9.3 ACERT engine which offers a power output rating of 207hp. In this promotional video from Caterpillar some of the company’s engineers talk about the design work that has gone into this latest model, which they suggest is just as easy as driving a pick-up!
