XCMG… Diggers Found
LiuGong have long established themselves in the UK thanks to the efforts of the long-standing, well known and friendly team behind the original dealership. Sany have made a faltering start to its UK entrance, but with a new team on board there are sure to be changes ahead, while it’s a similar scenario with Sunward, who following a change in the dealer set-up are now starting to get machines out in the field in decent numbers. Add into the mix the Welsh dealer who is selling the Carter brand and reports that they are proving popular with agricultural contractors who just want a no-frills digger!
I speculate that the next Chinese brand we will be seeing in the UK will be XCMG. The company which is state owned has its headquarters in Xuzhou, Jiangsu and in 2016 it was ranked as 5th in the world’s largest construction machinery manufacturers table.
The company has exported its products to over 170 countries around the globe and has in excess of 300 sales and service dealers across the world, so its only a matter of time before they decide to enter the UK. We took a look around a number of their excavators at Conexpo earlier this year, just before the world went mad, and I have to say they didn't look a bad machine, having said that, like most Chinese kit they appear very similar to other well know brands in styling, but once again, under the metal work, they all use the same well-proven Japanese components just like many other percieved premium brands.
While researching a bit of background on the company I came across the following videos that I thought might amuse the Digger Man Blog readership. In this “Diggers Found” series by XCMG they apparently took 3 people off the street and taught them how to drive an excavator, to enable them to take part in a competition in the last video, they are cheesy and quite clearly its all scripted but I found them funny to watch, enjoy!
