The frequency of new machine launches continued unabated throughout July, as Kobelco, Doosan and Hitachi debuted impressive products. Arguably the most significant digger of the month was previewed by JCB, its hydrogen-fuelled excavator making us all wonder: when it comes to larger machines, could fuel cell technology hold the key to achieveing zero emissions? Watching this bright yellow machine in action, we would say there's every chance...

1) JCB DEVELOPS HYDROGEN FUELLED DIGGER

The need for greener fuels has never been higher, and JCB is wasting no time finding an alternative to diesel, as proven with its hydrogen fuel cell-equipped 220X excavator. Read more.

 

2) KOBELCO REVEALS TWO NEW MODELS

ED160BR-7 Blade Runner destined for landscaping, land clearing and maintenance of forestry roads, whilst the SK140SRL-7 packs greater efficiency into an impressive logging specification. Read more.

 

3) CAT DOZER MILESTONE CELEBRATED

In 1985, Caterpillar expanded its revolutionary elevated sprocket undercarriage concept to its medium track-type tractor (MTTT) line with the launch of the H-Series models. Read more.

 

4) TAKEUCHI ROLLS OUT LATEST TRACKED DUMPER UPGRADE

6.5-tonne TCR50-2 tracked dumper builds on the success of its predecessor, offering a versatile 180-degree skip tip, 88kW engine and 3,700kg maximum load capacity. Read more.

 

5) DOOSAN'S BIGGEST DIGGER YET

80-tonne class DX800LC-7 packs a 548bhp, Stage 5 emissions-compliant engine and is ready to get down and dirty with its 4.6-cubic-metre bucket, plus 12.6m digging reach. Read more.

 

6) CESAR CHAMPION INITIATIVE RECOGNISES POLICE SUCCESS

In mid July, the CEA (Construction Equipment Association) announced a new CESAR reward scheme for Police officers who identify stolen construction plant, agricultural machinery and ATVs. Read more.

 

7) JCB SUPERFAN BUYS HYDRADIG

JCB fan Christopher McLaughlin put his money where his mouth is with the purchase of a brand new JCB Hydradig 110W Wastemaster for his company, Macwill Services. Read more.

 

8) FIRST HITACHI ZAXIS-7s ARRIVE IN ENGLAND

At the end of July, Hitachi broke new ground in England with the arrival of its new ZX300LC-7 medium excavator - two of which went to drainage contractor DMJ Drainage. Read more.

 

9) BOBCAT MINI-EXCAVATORS FOR BLACK CAT

10) TRANSITION ENGINES DEADLINE EXTENDED

European Parliament agrees to put back deadlines for building machines installed with transition engines from June 30th 2020 to June 30th 2021 and for placing those machines on the market. Read more.
