Cat’s in the Blue for a Good Cause

I recently came across an account on Instagram called ‘Big Blue’ which featured Caterpillar equipment in Australia in a stunning all blue livery, so I was keen to find out more.

Cat’s in the Blue for a Good Cause

The Big Blue Instagram page is run by GR Dirtworx employee Micah Mifsud who is also the operator of the Cat 336 excavator, which has the nickname Big Blue.

GR Dirtworx is a family run business based in Melbourne, Australia and is owned by husband-and-wife team Gavin and Jacqui Rogers. The company is primarily engaged in civils works, house building groundworks, factory pads, new schools and commercial buildings.

The company are keen supporters of an Australian organisation called “Beyond Blue” who do amazing work in raising mental health awareness, providing information and guidance for anyone that’s enduring mental health issues. This is a subject that is close to the family’s heart as Gavin’s brother Nigel has faced such struggles in the past.

To show their support, further raise awareness and to prompt conversations on site, Gavin and Jacqui decided to have their Cat D6N resprayed blue, “Bluey” as it became affectionately known, was the start of it all, that machine was followed by their Cat D8T “Bandit” and most recently the Cat 336 aka “Big Blue”. These machines all feature QR codes that people can scan and it will take them to the “Why Blue” section of their website which hosts a lot more detail on the subject

The company’s “Beyond Blue Dozer” initiative not only raises awareness for mental health in construction, but for every hour the machine is running they donate $2 to Beyond Blue to help support the services they offer.

Talking about this Gavin said, “We all have our own stories of either dealing with mental health or know someone who has dealt with it. After helping a close family member through some very dark days we knew how important it was for us to try and make a real difference while raising awareness to “BULLDOZE STIGMA”.

The Rogers family would like to thank Ritchie Bros for helping out with the D6N and William Adams their local Caterpillar dealer for their help and support with both the D8T and the new 336.

I think you will all agree the machines look superb and it’s a great way to get the message across, that there is help available out there for anyone who might be struggling. Big thanks also go to Micah for getting in touch and sharing the photos.
