Digger’s weekly social media round up #15

Taking a look back now at some of the highlights of the Digger Man Blogs social media activity and interaction with our readers and members from the past week.

Digger’s weekly social media round up #15
It’s been another funny old week on the Digger Man Blog’s Facebook page, one would have thought the prospect of a shiny new Cat mobile phone worth over £500 would appeal to the readers of our page, after all these rugged phones have been specifically designed for the end user out on construction sites. I’m not sure if people hadn’t copped onto the idea of the competition or have just been too busy to take part. If you have simply missed it, there is still time to make your guess on how many people are going to pre-register for the Cat Auction Services & IronPlanet event at Rockingham on 18th October. Take your shot at winning the phone by visiting the thread here.   img_1264 Talking about Cat products this photo caught my eye on the blog this week. It didn’t draw many comments but did attract over 67 “likes”. The action shot posted by Jamie Legg features one of Champion Groundworks Caterpillar D6T’s on batter work. It certainly looks like a “wall of death” batter to me or is it just clever use of the camera? See what you think by checking out the thread here. 14695531_10210881747019052_1895172979319955409_n Richard Armiger posted a couple of interesting photos this week from his visit to Goa, when he stopped by at a local JCB dealership and checked out a couple of machines including a 2 wheel drive backhoe loader designed for the Indian market and an example of the Liftall crane, which is a curious looking machine to say the least. Catch up with this post by clicking on this link. 14657281_1462137190469029_6667845992123844177_n Another couple of shots that caught my eye this week were posted by blog reader Joe Yip, which reminded me of the poster inserts that JCB used to have in the old Construction News or “Jackers Journal” as it used to be affectionately known.  The posters, many of which adorned my bedroom wall as a youngster, used to show JCB’s working all over the world in some of the most hostile environments going like the deserts of Dubai and the rain forests of Suriname. The shots feature an old JCB 800 series machine at rest somewhere between Hofn and Reykjavik in Iceland. Check it out by following this link. 14691245_701864619978385_4284159620204303268_o Laurence Rendle has been keeping us updated with progress on his job in Launceston, Cornwall, where he is digging out for some new fuel tanks in a congested site adjacent to a main road and a supermarket. This week he has been out of the 21 tonner and sat on one of CBL Plant’s finest Takeuchi TB016’s down in the excavation! Check out the rest of the photos by visiting the thread here. 14712761_592257424309471_5942484567346943494_o Finally this week well known around the plant and machinery social media circuit Giles Bertenshaw posted a photo of his old but still extremely reliable JCB JS130 from the original Sumitomo era. The Sumitomo machines in all their various guises these days, are certainly making a name for themselves and rightly so in my opinion as they are quality bits of kit. Check this thread out here. 14682089_10157724070165045_954166417932365168_o I'm off to the HE Services Hydradig Roadshow this afternoon as it reaches the West Country in Okehampton. Have a great weekend everyone and we will see you on the original Digger Man Blog again next week.
