Digger’s weekly social media round up #1
Since its inception as a stand-alone blog in 2008 the Digger (Man) Blog has always had a large following on social media channels like Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin, but in recent years this connection with our readers has become ever more important, in this new weekly feature we are going to take a look back at some of the interaction with our social media contributors from the previous week.
Joe Yip from Boston in the USA raised an interesting question earlier this week, asking if anyone had ever ran a JSW (Japan Steel Works) excavator back in the early 80’s. A number of our readers posted some great comments as they recalled the machines that were never much of a success and are pretty rare nowadays. If you know anything else about these machines, why not join the discussion by clicking on this link.
Another popular posting on our Facebook page was this classic shot from the 80’s of a couple of Poclain excavators being demonstrated at the old SED show during its Whipsnade era. It never ceases to amaze me that the old kit still generates a lot of interest from both young and old readers. It’s always good to look back at machines which helped to form our earthmoving heritage. Why not join the debate by clicking on this link.
Right back up to the present day now with a series of photos of the first JCB Hydradig to go into service in Scotland which were proudly posted by its new operator Will Smith from Saint Andrews. Will works for Blackwood Plant Hire who have purchased two of the innovative new machines which will be equipped with Engcon tilt-rotators, take a look at the thread for yourselves by clicking here.
Ex-English muck shifting man Mick No Mohawk Bryan who now resides in Wierzyce, Poland is a keen supporter and regular poster on the Digger Man Blog Facebook page. He recently posted a couple of photos featuring old kit from the glory days of muckshifting with CA Blackwells. Check the thread by following this link.
Finally in this first edition of the round up James Dance became the latest contractor to join the tilt-rotator revolution when he took delivery of his new Rototilt unit which will be mounted on his Hitachi Zaxis 130-5 machine, James described the units arrival as being like Christmas Day! Check out the detail here.
Check out the round up next week for more of my favourite readers posts!
