Life on an Engcon Equipped Hybrid Huddig

Came across this nice little video from our friends at Engcon over the weekend, and thought it would be good to share here on the blog.

Life on an Engcon Equipped Hybrid Huddig

The footage focuses on fascinatingly named Lilly Palm, a young woman who has found her niche working on specially adapted railway maintenance equipment.

Lilly was trained up on a rail-focused operator training programme and following her graduation from the course, she joined railway work contractor Perssons Entreprenad & Åkeri, where she has been ever since.

She has been fortunate enough to be given the drive on the company’s Hybrid Huddig 1370T Tigon multifunctional machine, which is without a doubt, an amazing piece of kit to be in charge of.

Just like a Hybrid car, the machine can run on a conventional diesel engine, but can operate for 2 hours on just electric power if needed, which when working in tunnels especially is extremely useful, with no fumes to be inhaling and very little noise. I have worked in tunnels on conventional powered road rail machines in the past, and it’s not a pleasant experience.

The machine is equipped with an Engcon EC214 tiltrotator, with the EC-Oil quick change system, which is very useful on these types of contracts, when speed of attachment change is often crucial. In the video below, Lilly who hails from Norrbotten County in the frozen north of Sweden, explains the benefits of being able to change attachments quickly and with ease, especially the big sweeper brush for clearing ballast along the tracks.
