Mansen Mörinät Moments
We recently attended the Mansen Mörinät event in Finland, which will feature in a future edition of Earthmovers Magazine, however, I took so many photos, I figured we could also share some on the blog.
As we reported recently in the magazine, Develon wheeled excavators seem to be consistently popular with railway work contractors, and it would appear that it’s the same scenario in Finland, as we came across this high spec Develon DX170W Rail model in dealers Real Machinery Oy yard, complete with Engcon tiltrotator and TAB boom it’s a stunning looking piece of kit.

In Avesco Cat’s yard we came across this new Sandvik Ranger DX800 rock drilling machine. We see these quite a bit on our site visits in Finland, where the rocky ground conditions can be incredibly hard, and require drilling to set explosive charges. Interesting machines and not something you see every day, they are powered by a Caterpillar C7.1 Stage V emissions compliant diesel engine, which puts out 168kW (225hp) @1800rpm.

At Yanmar Compact Equipment Dealers KH-Koneet Oy they presented a nice example of the popular 8-9-tonne class SV86. Sat next to a 6-tonne class SV60, this example was fitted with 450mm steel track pads and what I think was a SMP tiltrotator.

Amidst a sea of yellow British built JCB machines in the yard of Finnish dealers Mateko Oy, we came across this JCB 4CX Dual Drive backhoe loader, which in this region, it came as no surprise to see it with a tiltrotator fitted.

At Honka Trading Oy there was a vast array of Takeuchi machines, amongst them the 7-tonne class TB370W wheeled excavator, once again featuring top spec levels with two-piece boom (TAB) and Engcon tiltrotator. I have still not tried out one of these, but its obviously its going to be a top-drawer machine, my only concern with these are the tiny tyres that seem to be the standard fit, I’d like to see one with the larger floatation style tyres on, think it would look a bit more-beefy, and perform better in soft conditions.

Lookout for more from this event in the next edition of Earthmovers Magazine.
