Maxpo Moments (Part Three)

Taking another look back at some of the kit we saw during the Maxpo Show which was held at the famous Hyvinkää airport in Finland last August.

Maxpo Moments (Part Three)

A new name to the Finnish market was spotted this time around, Chinese brand SDLG, which was formerly owned by Volvo Construction Equipment until its recent divestment of ownership.

The dealer Equipment Provider Oy, displayed some examples from the SDLG range including a wheeled loader, mini excavator, and the 21-tonne class E6215 H hydraulic excavator.

Many dealers have tried to sell Chinese equipment in Finland previously but so far with very little success, so it will be interesting to see how this new venture pans out in the future.

Talking of Chinese equipment Finnish rental company CE Rental Oy has become authorised dealer for LiuGong in Finland.

Based in Pirkkala, near Tampere in Southern Finland, the company had previously been running some LiuGong models on its hire fleet, alongside JCB equipment. However, going forward the business will largely focus on LiuGong’s battery-electric models including the 820TE and 848TE loading shovels, the 9027FE and 922FE hydraulic excavators.

Examples of these machines were made available for visitors to try out during the show on the digging plot. It is also expected that the company will also sell diesel powered options too.

Just next door our good friends at Rentti Tracwest Oy the Finnish Case Construction Equipment dealers, had a number of machines available for visitors to spend some time on, including the ever-popular CX210E hydraulic excavator. These Sumitomo inspired machines continue to be a favourite with operators and owners alike.

Finnish Hitachi Construction Machinery dealer, Rotator Oy brought along the largest machine at the show as they displayed the 70-tonne class Zaxis 690 LCH hydraulic excavator, on a simulated static display loading the Lokotrack LT400J diesel-electric jaw crusher.

Rotator Oy also presented the largest excavator bucket to be seen at the show, a 12.0 m3 heavy-duty version to be fitted to a 200-tonne class Hitachi EX2000-7 that is going to work for contractor Jarkan Maansiirto, who we visited some years ago in the Seepsula quarry near Vantaa, when they were running a Komatsu machine in the same size class. Maybe we can pay a visit to this machine when I am next back in my beloved Finland, in the new year.

Finally in this batch, we visited the Suomen Rakennuskone Oy stand, who are the main dealers for Komatsu in Finland, here we also caught up with popular machinery contractor Camilla Kuivalainen, who was demonstrating her skills on the Komatsu PW158 wheeled excavator, distributing packs of playing cards to passing visitors using the gripper on the Engcon tiltrotator.

Checkout Camilla in action handing out the playing cards in style!

I would also like to thank Benita Puotila of Suomen Rakkenuskone for the kind hospitality on the stand, and the gift of an umbrella when the weather turned wet.
