MRT Tiltrotators Built Tough, for Tough Conditions

Finnish family business Martiini Metal Oy know a thing or two about manufacturing long lasting and durable attachments, having been fabricating such work tools since the 1960’s.

MRT Tiltrotators Built Tough, for Tough Conditions

The business was actually first established as far back as the early 1920s, when Janne Marttiini started out as a small blacksmith in the village of Kierinki in the municipality of Sodankylä deep in the northern Finland, making such things as knives and horseshoes.

The business has evolved a lot since those days and today they are primarily engaged in the manufacture of tiltrotators, grinders and grapples.

Conditions are extremely tough in Northern Finland with the ground often remaining frozen for around 6 months of the year, so the attachments need to be manufactured with in-built strength to endure the harshness of the environment.

The company has most recently rebranded themselves to become MRT Tilt&rotators, a much more simplistic brand name, which better reflects what the business is about today.

For an example of the tough conditions these tiltrotators work in check out the video below which features Caterpillar 325 machines fitted with MT26 tilt couplers and MR26 rotators purchased by Arctic Infra at work on a construction site in Aavasaksa which is in the western part of the Finnish Lapland. Northern Finland has long been on my bucket list to visit, hopefully one of these days I will get there and be able to visit both these companies for a full report!
