New kit galore at the Royal Cornwall Show (Part Two)

Rounding up my look around the plant and machinery exhibitors stands at last week’s Royal Cornwall Show in Wadebridge, Cornwall.

First time exhibitors to the show were Irish bucket and quick coupler manufacturers Hill Engineering, whose TEFRA double quick coupler won the Engineering Solution Award at last year’s inaugural Plantworx show. The team had various examples of the TEFRA coupler on display but what caught my eye was this sturdy looking tilt coupler, suitable for 21 tonne size class machines. I would be very interested to know if Hill has any plans to develop their own tiltrotator systems in the future, which I feel could be a very exciting project, in light of the growing acceptance of the game changing attachments in the UK. Just along the way and I wandered onto the Holt JCB stand where I was greeted by General Manager Dave Probert. On display was one of JCB’s latest entrants into the midi excavator market, the 86 C-1 which was one of a new line up which were officially launched at ConExpo in Las Vegas earlier this year. For those looking for a photo opportunity and the chance to raise some money for Cancer Research UK, there was the pink JCB 30D 4x4 Teletruk which was proving to be popular with youngsters and parents alike. Just further along were more Royal Cornwall Show first timers Molson Group, who were displaying machines from their Hyundai portfolio. Representing the company’s wheeled loader range on stand was the HL 740-9 model.  Weighing in at 1200 kgs and powered by a six cylinder Cummins engine offering a power output of 108 kw/147 hp, the machine offers a bucket capacity of 1.70-2.80 M3. Molson also brought along a “rubber duck” in the form of a R140W-9A wheeled excavator, featuring the full blade and rear outriggers combination. On the Vincent’s Tractors stand there was a large selection of Kubota mini excavators, including the new U27-4 as featured in the current edition of Earthmovers Magazine, with this example being sold to Phil Dymond. Also on stand was this Kubota U17-3 which was displayed with a Diga-Bara, towed dumper, as sold by Exac-One and seen recently at the ScotPlant show in Edinburgh. The simple but effective concept is proving popular with small builders and contractors. Over at the Kellands stand and we spotted another Doosan DX140LC Series III hydraulic excavator heading for the MJL Group. This machine also featured the name of a fellow operator on the door, Mike McGuire, whom I worked with during my time with the company as an operator. Finally we see a Bobcat T650 compact tracked skid steer loader which is owned by Yeovil based YHC Hire Solutions. This machine was displayed with rotary chain trenching attachment. Another show drew to a close and although there was a slight dip in attendance over previous years, it looks like yet another huge success for all those involved.
