Norwegian Excavator Access Ladder Gains CE Mark
Our Norwegian Entrepreneur friend Olav Wendelbo has written to update us on his excavator access ladder design.
Olav has been working on his ladder for a number of years, and we actually featured it in a post here on the Digger Man Blog as far back as February 2019. Olav reports that as a result of that post he received orders from as far away as Australia, and has since sold in excess of 40 ladders, a real testament to the global reach of this platform.
Just to recall, the ladder itself is based on an old Norwegian Brøyt design and is aimed at excavators ranging from 25 – 100-tonnes. Olav himself is a keen enthusiast of the old Brøyt machines and has operated many over the years in Norway.

He wanted to recreate the ladder design mainly due to its simplicity and cost effectiveness, it requires no expensive electric motors, to lower and retract it, just two strong gas struts are fitted to raise it to its storage position, once the operator steps up into the cab and that’s the key, its simplicity is a stroke of genius.

Olav is now delighted to report that his design has been CE approved for sale in Europe. The first public appearance of his CE marked ladder took place in April at the Norwegian trade fair, Veg Og Anlegg Expo, which was held at the NOVA Spektrum in Lillestrøm where it was displayed mounted to a Liebherr R 924 hydraulic excavator.

Talking about this milestone achievement Olav Wendelbo said, “Many companies have asked for something like this for a long time, so this means a lot to me”.
It gets a big thumbs up from us here at the Digger Man Blog, congratulations Olav!
