Royal Cornwall Show Machinery Highlights (Part Four)

Continuing our look around the construction machinery trade stands at the recent Royal Cornwall Show that we have been attending for many years, and which is one of our favourites on the show circuit.

Royal Cornwall Show Machinery Highlights (Part Four)

A very warm welcome always awaits me on the Holt JCB Ltd stand, from Kate Shields, Paul Butcher and the team, and this year was no different. The stand was absolutely rammed with no less than 24 new JCB products this year, in fact I think it’s probably the largest number of machines on the stand ever, so there was plenty to see and explore.

Champion Groundworks had a significant presence on the stand with a new 14/15-tonne class 140XLC and a 22-tonne class 220XLC in a prime spot on the corner of the walkway.

At the other end of the scale were two examples from the electric compact equipment range, with the sub-1-tonne 8008E micro excavator, partnered with the HTD-5E compact tracked dumper, the latter having been sold to Callington based plant hire and groundworks contractor MJ Troup & Son, a family business who I once worked for in the past.

Taking centre stage was the new JCB 3CX, a cost-effective model powered by a 55kw diesel engine, that we recently saw at a press event up at JCB’s demonstration quarry. Long known as the “Swiss Army Knife” of construction sites, the JCB 3CX was also recognised by the show judges who rewarded it with the Royal Cornwall Show Machinery Competition Gold Medal at the event.

Another model from the Staffordshire manufacturers mini excavator range was the 5-tonne class, zero tailswing offering the 50 Z-2. Dumpers, Telehandlers and numerous other excavators completed the line-up.

Let's take a wander around the stand in my walkaround video below.
