Work is a breeze for pink JCB on a wind farm job

Regular readers of the Digger Man Blog may recall our coverage of Waiting’s stunning pink JCB JS220LC which was delivered to the company in the early stages of 2015. Well we have recently received a few photos of the machine at work on its latest project.

The pink machine was purchased through the company’s local dealer Scot JCB, with support from JCB Heavy Products Ltd at Uttoxeter. The machine was purchased and painted “in the pink” to raise awareness and money for the companies chosen charities Hospice @ Home Carlisle and the North Lakeland and Eden Valley Hospice. The machine is one of the latest to be emblazoned in pink for charity, a theme that has become very popular around the globe with a whole host of machines sporting the dynamic livery. Pink digger at Ray Wind Farm 3 Waitings pink JS220LC is currently working at the Ray Wind Farm site, where the company have been contracted by RJ McLeod to install approximately 24km’s of ducting and cabling from the wind farm 20 miles north of Hexam, to a grid connection point at a distribution network operators (DNO) substation. Pink digger at Ray Wind Farm The work involves burying over 150,000 metres of ducting, laying 6 individual ducts configured and later winching in the 33kv cable, whilst assisting the cable jointing teams. The works are being overseen by an Ecological Clerk of the Works who has direct responsibility for monitoring compliance with environmental legislation policy. There is also an Archaeological Clerk of Works who is present on site during topsoil stripping operations whose primary role is to identify and excavate any archaeological remains which might be exposed during the work. The firm also has four teams of men working with them. Also deployed are a team of directional drilling subcontractors who are drilling under the historic Hadrian’s Wall and at another location at the River North Tyne. Pink digger onsite The high profile and eye catching pink machine has been well received on site and continues to raise much needed cash for the chosen charities. The works are scheduled to be completed in October and I think it would make for a great site visit to take some good quality photos of the pink machine in action.
