Finning returns 15 year old dozer

Enovert's Enovert 2011 Cat D6T dozer has returned to work after a repair period with Finning. The machine, which had accumulated 9,511 operating hours, was initially sent to Finning’s Winsford branch with a hydraulic fault. After assessing its overall condition, Enovert opted for a complete rebuild rather than a standalone repair, with the dozer transferred to Finning’s Cannock Rebuild, Repair and Response Centre.

Enovert, headquartered in Stafford, operates landfill, composting, landfill gas generation and waste treatment facilities across the UK. Its fleet includes Cat 826 compactors, D6N and D6T dozers, and loading shovels working in demanding waste handling applications.

Commenting on the project, Regional Manager Ian Craven said: “All of our landfill machines have a hard-working life, so reliability and support are critical. This D6T was already a familiar machine in the fleet, and once we had assessed its wider condition with Finning, the rebuild route enabled us to bring it back to a high standard at a fraction of the cost of buying new, while being better for the environment too.

“We’re really pleased with the result. The machine has gone back to work with a fresh lease of life, and the site team is happy with how it has performed. For us, it means we’ve got a dozer we know, rebuilt to a high standard and supported by people who understand the demands of our sites.”

At Cannock, the D6T was stripped back to its chassis before being rebuilt using a combination of new and genuine Cat remanufactured components. The work included the engine, transmission, torque converter, final drives, hydraulics, cab, wiring harness, undercarriage and cooling system, before the machine received a full repaint.

The rebuilt dozer is now covered by a five-year/8,000-hour warranty on the powertrain and hydraulic system.

Noel Hancock, Customer Account Manager at Finning UK & Ireland, said: “This was a proper bare-bones rebuild. The machine came from a tough landfill application and had to be taken right back to the chassis before it could be built up again. The cab, wiring, powertrain, hydraulics, undercarriage and paintwork were all addressed using the right mix of new and remanufactured genuine parts.

“But we didn’t just hand it back and leave the customer to it. After the handover, one of our engineers spent two days with the machine at Enovert’s Cowpen Bewley operation in the Teesside area, carrying out on-site commissioning support.

“That included running the machine in application, monitoring performance, carrying out oil cleanliness checks and making sure the operator and site team were happy before it went fully back to work.”

Finning has supported Enovert’s Cat fleet for more than a decade, providing servicing, repairs and breakdown support across its nationwide operations.
