Abandoned Kit Documented

Our friend and “Englishman Down Under” Michael Bullock the man behind the hugely successful Instagram account the English earthmover, has just started a second account which looks set to be as successful as his first account.

Abandoned Kit Documented

Michael who recently was granted full Australian residency, has always had a passion for old graveyard kit or machines that have simply been left on sites or in fields to slowly rot or rust away and has in fact shared photos of that kind of stuff with us here on the blog.

This interest and curiosity in such items, has led to him creating the new account entitled @abandoned_earthmovers.

It really is incredible just how many machines, which were once an owner’s pride and joy, are just literally abandoned to the wrath of mother nature, in some cases 100’s of thousands of pounds/dollars’ worth of kit rotting away.

Unlike his original account which features pretty much 100% photos of his own, for this account Michael is reaching out to other like-minded mega digger enthusiasts to contribute their photos of old gear left out in the open or lurking in hedgerows.

As a taster of what you can expect on the new account, the photos included in this post, with the exception of the opening shot, were originally shared to me by Michael himself during one of his visit’s “home” in the UK, or possibly even before he followed his dreams and headed out to Australia, where he has been able to operate some of the largest kit out there.

I will be watching this new account with great interest and I strongly advise you to do the same!

And to round of on a similar theme, who can forget this classic video from Chris Magginis featuring James Wightman's plant and machinery breakers yard in Northern Ireland, the place where diggers go to die, or become a donor for old surviving machines to continue digging!

Epic stuff and still one on my bucket list to visit one of these days!
