Doosan Reveal More “Duck” Details

Doosan has now officially launched its long awaited DX100W-7 compact wheeled excavator and although we have already covered it on the blog previously, the addition last week of an all-new video on the machine has inspired me to create another post.

Doosan Reveal More “Duck” Details

The 9-10-tonne compact wheeled excavator sector is fiercely competitive so it’s come as no surprise to me to see Doosan entering the market with what looks to be a cracking piece of kit.

As most of them do, the marketing team has played the game, drip feeding us with teaser shots since at least last October, test drives have been undertaken by selected individuals, and now the machine is ready and available to order, and judging by the dealers I have spoken too, interest is extremely high!

Doosan, and before that Daewoo, have long had an enviable reputation for producing a decent wheeled excavator, and that legacy looks set to continue with this new model. Weighing in at 10.7 – 11.100kgs depending on spec, power comes from Doosan’s own D34 ultra-low emissions Stage 5 diesel engine, which offers a power output of 75kw (100hp) @2000rpm.

Four-wheel steer and crab-steer options make this machine highly manoeuvrable, in its four-wheel steering mode the minimum turning radius is 3697mm, making it ideal for tight quarter job sites and urban road works projects.

Like most Doosan machines its pretty quick too, with a slew speed of 10.5rpm, and a top speed on the road of 37.4 km/h, while traction force is an impressive 4,200kgs.

In line with other Doosan Dash-7 models the machine features Doosan’s e-EPOS (Electronic Power Optimising System) which they describe as the brain of the excavator, working in unison with the engine and hydraulic system to minimise fuel consumption, whilst optimising the efficiency and controllability of the hydraulic services, especially when using combined lever movements together.

The machine features 2 travel speeds offering either increased torque for when working on sites, or high speed for road travelling from job to job.

Doosan have really upped their game in terms of cab comfort and ergonomics in recent years, and this machine looks set to continue that theme, extremely well appointed and featuring all the usual creature comforts we expect today. The machine features 3 power modes and 3 operating modes to select from.

Anyway, without further ado, lets join Doosan’s Excavator Product Manager Stephane Dieu as he gives us the lowdown on the DX100W-7.

I hope to be able to get behind the wheel and joysticks of this new model soon for Earthmovers Magazine, so lookout for a full report in due course.
