More Classic’s from the Bob Marshall Collection

There is no doubt about it, the passion for old heavy plant and equipment from years gone by is massive on social media, with many groups being dedicated to those machines of yesteryear.

The UK based “The Old Girls of Plant Hire” Facebook platform for instance has a massive following of nearly 58k which is incredible really. The old stuff is also very popular on this blog, and our recent series on Bob Marshall the Australian heavy equipment legend prompted a flurry of messages from readers asking for more photos, which I am happy to provide in this post.

More Classic’s from the Bob Marshall Collection

Bob’s son Eddie Marshall sent us a whole load of photos for us to use in his life story series, but there were only so many I could use in that instance, so in this post I will present some that didn’t make the cut in the series.

Bob is seen here above operating what looks like an Allis Chalmers tractor with Bucyrus Erie winch arrangement for operating the scraper box.

The strange “overshot loader” was a very early style of crawler loader, the identity of this one is not known, or at least I have no details on it, if anyone out there can come up with the answer that would be great.

Bob is seen here sat on board one of his Caterpillar 621 elevating scraper’s, seen above parked outside his workshops.

Although Bob’s fleet of dozers was dominated by machines from the Caterpillar stable, this International TD-25 that had received a makeover in the workshops, was also a popular addition.

Bob’s British built Hymac 580BT that featured in Part Three of his blog series, got into some tricky situations during the course of its time on the Marshall business, in the shot above she has become well and truly bogged in swamp land, that today is the Marshall Ski Lakes area.

Talking of sticky sites, Bob is seen here operating one of his favourite Komatsu excavators, the PC220-3 loading a Volvo ADT.

KATO excavators were at one time very popular machines in Australia. Bob’s wife Kathy, is seen here in front of some new KATO and JCB machines during a show.

And finally rounding off with another photo of Bob with his Cat D6H. Thanks again to Eddie Marshall for sharing these photos with us here on the Digger Man Blog.
