Ollie and Eddie’s Swedish Roadtrip (Part One)

Well known UK owner/operators and entrepreneurs of the Swedish way of working, Ollie Kitchin and Eddie Warrener have recently made another pilgrimage to the spiritual home tiltrotator’s and modern excavation techniques with a visit to the MaskinExpo show, but first a return to the local Hitachi dealer they visited last time. This is a photo heavy post, but we make no apologies for that, as I know you all enjoy the pics of the kit!

Ollie and Eddie’s Swedish Roadtrip (Part One)
Ollie and Eddie last paid a visit to the Hitachi dealers Delvator AB some 12 months ago when they were in Sweden to attend the MaskinMassan show that runs on alternate years to MaskinExpo. Delvator AB is a family-owned business that has been going for over 30 years and has its headquarters in Eslöv and another branch in Härnösand. They sell Hitachi construction machinery and other machinery in their portfolio right across Sweden. Ollie takes up the story, “Our first stop was to catch up with Delvator AB depot manager Christier. We were greeted with a typical Swedish welcome with smiles all round and a very keen enthusiasm to show us what he and the team were up to this time. The U10 had just come in and was in the middle of getting PDI’d”. “One of the other lads was making up the pipe work up for the Zaxis 170W-6 duck, they try and stay away from hoses where ever possible, and custom make everything in house. These 2 ducks where going to a recycling company who already have two and are very happy with them”. “As we know from previous experience, the Swedes like to bring all the pipe work down one side, and you can see in this photo where they tap into the line, and bring it across and down. This unit had a manual connection system so you connect all the pipes in one hit”. “The toolbox was on a 190, but been an extremely special machine this is the only picture we could take of it”. “There was a little Rototilt R10 in, having a pin and bush refurbishment job done, I think they said it was a 2016 model”. “There was plenty of shiny orange Hitachi stock in the yard ready to be pre-delivery inspected and going through the workshops for final checks”. “The Volvo EW160C wheeled excavator belongs to a good customer of theirs. They also do repair work on any make of machine and this example needs a new axle and new-hubs”. “The Hitachi duck was just in for a service and there was a large selection of new buckets and trailers in as well, which were of interest to Eddie and myself”. “Delvator AB are also Swedish main dealers for the Italian Merlo range of telescopic handlers, apparently this yellow one we spotted in the yard actually belongs to the Swedish military”. “So, after yet another fantastic visit to this friendly dealership its was time for us to head off to the show and we will share some photos of that with you in the next instalment of this blog post. Both Eddie and I would like to extend our thanks to the team at Delvator AB for the kind hospitality we were shown on the day and we look forward to returning again soon”.
