Postcard’s from Bauma
We are back from an amazing time spent in Munich at Bauma 2022, unfortunately my plans to post a blog each day failed as my iPad wasn't able to upload the photos for some reason, but over the coming days and weeks, I will try to bring a flavour of the things we saw and did at the greatest construction machinery show in the world!
The big news at Bauma was Liebherr's new 50-tonne class R 9XX H2 hydrogen powered hydraulic excavator which had been rewarded with the prestigeous Bauma Innovation Award.
The prototype machine is Liebherr's first hydrogen-powered hydraulic excavator and was developed in the company's famous Colmar, facility in France by Liebherr -France SAS.
No Bauma is complete without a giant dump truck on the Liebherr stand, in this case the 305-tonne payload T 274, which shares many features with its larger brother the 363-tonne T 284. This example featured the companies electric Trolley Assist System which is available as an option.

Hydrogen was big news at the this years Bauma, and Hyundai Construction Equipment Europe presented their new HW155H concept hydrogen powered wheeled excavator which uses the same technology that is fitted in the Korean company's hydrogen powered motor cars. The machine is equipped with a hydrogen fuel cell, providing the electrical power to operate it with zero tailpipe emissions. The machine can be charged in just ten minutes.
According to a Hyundai spokesman the wheeled excavator had been chosen as the model to be powered by hydrogen as they generally work in urban environments and low emission zones, with the 14 tonne model being the most poplar weight class.

Wacker Neuson's Dual View dumpers have made a big inpact on sites in the UK and that looks set to continue with the launch of the new DV45, a 4.5-tonne dumper which features a cab that revolves with the flick of a switch inside the cab.

Bobcat revealed its latest electric mini excavator the 2-tonne class E19e. The E19e is an electric version of the manufacturers popular E19 internal-combustion (IC) model and offers zero emissions, low-noise operation and comparable levels of performance to its diesel-powered counterpart. We will be covering this machine in more detail in a stand alone blog at a later date.

One of the most outstanding demonstrations took place on the Komatsu stand with the focal point being the 400-tonne class Komatsu PC4000 Electric hydraulic face shovel.

You can checkout the first part of this demo in our video below.
