YEAR IN REVIEW: December 2020

And so we arrive at the last month in 2020. There was no let up in new machinery launches in December, with Doosan, Wacker Neuson, Caterpillar and Bobcat making the headlines. The final days of 2020 also saw young Jamie Currie take big steps towards becoming a paid-up digger operator, and the Stage 5 emissions compliant Yanmar SV60 arrive in the UK. In other news, Volvo revealed it's working on a promising new hydraulics system in co-operation with Finnish company Norrhydro. That is definitely something to keep an eye on...

1) 13-YEAR OLD BECOMES TRAINED OPERATOR

A 13-year-old passionate about diggers and tractors has become the youngest person to gain a Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS) Red Card, making him a trained operator. Read more.

 

2) VERSATILE BECOMES BOBCAT DEALER

Doosan Bobcat EMEA has appointed Versatile Equipment Ltd as the new Authorised Bobcat Dealer for the counties of Greater London, Essex, West Sussex, East Sussex, Kent and Surrey in the UK. Read more.

 

3) DOOSAN LAUNCHES NEW DL-7 WHEEL LOADERS

Doosan Infracore Europe reveals new ‘DL-7’ wheel loader range, featuring a new exterior design, Stage 5 compliant engines, and improved productivity and fuel efficiency. Read more.

 

4) NEW CAT EXCAVATORS

Hot off the back of announcing its new 315 GC compact radius excavator, Caterpillar delivers new 317 and 317 GC 17-tonne class Next Generation machines. Read more.

 

5) UK'S FIRST STAGE 5 YANMAR SV60

F M Arblaster & Son has taken delivery of the very first Stage 5-compliant Yanmar SV60 sold in the UK, retailed through Mawsley Machinery in Brixworth. Read more.

 

6) MORE EPIROC HAMMERS FOR MARSHALLS

On the back of excellent productivity and their proven low maintenance requirements, Marshalls plc has invested in the latest versions of Epiroc’s HB 3600 IPS and HB 4100 IPS hydraulic hammers. Read more.

 

7) NEW WACKER NEUSON DW40 DUMPER

Wacker Neuson has revealed a new, 4-ton payload DW40 wheel dumper, which joins the 2-ton DW20 and 3-ton DW30 in the range. Read more.

 

8) BOBCAT ROTARY TELEHANDLERS

Bobcat has collaborated with Magni TH of Italy to launch a new generation of rotary telehandlers for markets in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), and Russia and the CIS countries. Read more.

 

9) VOLVO AND NORRHYDRO WORKING ON REVOLUTIONARY HYDRAULICS SYSTEM

Volvo Construction Equipment is working in cooperation with Norrhydro in Finland to develop a new technology that it says will revolutionise machine hydraulic performance. Read more.

 

10) SANY TO MAKE EXECUTIVE HIRE SHOW DEBUT

Sany UK and Ireland has confirmed its first ever attendance at The Executive Hire Show, which this year is scheduled to take place on April 28th and 29th at Coventry's Ricoh Arena. Read more.
